The combination of realistic settings, effective lighting, real animals, orchestral and choral music, and authentic costumes produces a powerful and dramatic fifty-five minute presentation of the Christmas story a story that is eternally the same, but always new. Presented by the Knoxville Nativity Pageant, Inc. it appeals to audiences of all ages. Many families come again and again, making it part of their own Christmas tradition. The Pageant is thrilling to those who attend and also to those who work to create it each year. The average annual attendance for the last several years has been 15,000.
The Nativity Pageant involves hundreds of volunteers from the Knoxville area in a professionally directed pantomime drama. The Pageant combines a cast of 90 fully costumed adults and children, moving narration, realistic sets, authentic costumes, and live animals to create a beautiful and powerful presentation of the Christmas story. A 200-voice choir, accompanied by a 20-member orchestra, provides music. The Pageant has been a traditional part of metropolitan Knoxville’s Christmas celebration for 35 years. Fantasy of Trees
The Fantasy of Trees at the Knoxville Convention Center has been a holiday tradition in East Tennessee since 1985. The Fantasy of Trees 2007 will showcase a theme of "Holiday Cheer Down South" highlighted with decorations and designs that celebrate the many traditions found throughout the Southern States during the holiday season -- from a traditional country Christmas and a Big Orange "Vol-iday" in East Tennessee to merry magnolias and mountains, sand and Santa, jingle bells and jazz, and big city shopping sparkle. In addition, new children's activities and shops will also reflect this year's festive theme. Wander through a magical forest of more than 300 beautifully decorated trees, holiday accessories, room scenes, fireplace mantels, swags, door designs, table centerpieces, topiaries, birdhouses and "Adopt-a-trees" decorated by local school children. The Gingerbread Village village features houses deliciously constructed and decorated by area bakers, chefs and school children.
All proceeds from the Fantasy of Trees benefit Children’s Hospital.

WIVK Santa Claus Parade - Friday, December 7th at 7PM. Downtown Knoxville. It's your first chance to see Santa Claus riding on his sleigh -- and we promise it will snow on Gay Street during the parade! Parade starts at Civic Coliseum, goes up Church Street and turns onto Gay Street.
Holiday Candlelight Tour - The Ramsey House will put you in the Holiday Spirit! Experience by candlelight the beautiful 1797 Historic House decorated for the Holidays in period Christmas decor. Refreshments and entertainment will be provided.

The Christmas Express
Enjoy story telling, decorations, holiday goodies and a visit from Santa on board the Christmas Express during a 90 minute, 11 mile journey aboard the historic railcars. Reservations are required.

My daughter, Abby, made a very good point the other day. We were discussing the choir music we have been rehearsing for Christmas. One song speaks of smiling faces on happy shoppers and something about everything being merry and bright.
