| Boomsday |

Boomsday is an annual event which takes place on the waterfront. This is the biggest single-day event in the state of Tennessee and the largest fireworks show in the southeast United States.

| Dignitaries from Europe and the Far East visit the Boomsday event, and National Geographic has filmed it for a special. Spectators from various parts of the US also attend. Attendance has been estimated at 300,000-350,000. Boomsday is FREE to the public and includes live entertainment from 5 pm until 9 pm. At 9 pm tons of fireworks, choreographed to a soundtrack, blast off from the Henley Street Bridge over the Tennessee River for a 20 minute show of firepower. |

| Cherokee Heritage Day |

Features a reenactment of the signing of the "Treaty of the Holston" between the Cherokee Nation and Governor William Blount, representative for the United States Government. Listen to the discussions and debate of July, 1791 by costumed interpretator's that led up to signing of this treaty and learn how this event shaped the beginning of Knoxville.

| Dressed in authentic costume, Cherokee Indians demonstrate tomahawk throwing, blow gun weaponry and traditional Dance & Drum. | Davy Crockett is a larger than life frontier hero and an East Tennessee native son. Famous during his lifetime for folksy ways, tall tales, a sense of humor, and a commitment to doing what he saw as right, Crockett died a hero at the Battle of the Alamo in 1836. More than a century later, he became more popular than ever as the Walt Disney television series generated a Crockett craze that swept the country. | At the 2010 Earth Fest, approximately 880 pounds of materials was either recycled or composted. Exhibitors and food vendors are required to control the types of materials they sell or distribute. | Festival on the Fourth activities begin at 2 p.m. with a Salute to Our Troops. Bluegrass bands begin entertaining at 4:15 p.m. The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra and the Knoxville Symphony Festival Choir takes to the main stage at 8:00 p.m. Fireworks begin at 9:35 p.m. and are launched from the Henley Street Bridge. Food and beverages are available throughout the park. Coolers and alcohol are not permitted. Pet are not permitted at the event. Parking is available in lots around the World's Fair Park including the 11th Parking Garage, Fort Kid Parking Lot, World's Fair Park parking lot and Locust Street Garage. |

| The anvil shoot is always the highlight of the Museum's July 4th festivities. Several times during the day, gunpowder is packed under the anvil and ignited. With a resounding boom, the hunk of iron bursts from a cloud of smoke, sometimes catapulted as high as the treetops. The earth literally shakes, and the deafening boom, it is said, can be heard as far as 15 miles away. |

| You've got it, ski season is here and lots of fun Winterfest activities and events have been planned for you in the Smoky Mountains. This three-month long festival begins in November and runs through February each year. Part of Winterfest is a Smoky Mountain Christmas -- a Christmas to remember. Magnificent parades, craft shows, sleighrides, trolley tours, Christmas on Ice at Ober Gatlinburg, and many other events make this holiday season one to remember for a lifetime. One of the most popular events of Winterfest is the Wilderness Wildlife Week of Nature in January which features lectures on local flora, fauna, and wildlife, hikes ranging from short and easy strolls to overnight treks, tips on photography, and bird watching. Each event is presented by more than 85 experts in their respective fields. |

| 30,000 tulips of various shades of Pink have been planted in the gardens at Crescent Bend which serve as the backdrop for a variety of special events and exhibits during the festival. The plethora of Pink tulips make for the perfect setting for the feature event called “Blooms for the Cure” which is a Crescent Bend fundraiser to benefit the Knoxville Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure in their continuing efforts to raise funds for Breast Cancer research and awareness education. |

Exhibits at Waterfest teach participants about local watersheds, healthy wetland ecosystems and aquatic life found in the waters of the Tennessee Valley. WaterFest activities include papermaking, launching water rockets, creating earth parfaits and designing water hats. Also included in this year's event was a community service tree-planting project. WaterFest is an activity of The Water Quality Forum which was established in 1990 and is a cooperative network of agencies, nonprofit organizations and citizens working to improve the health of the waterways in East Tennessee in accordance with the goals of the Clean Water Act. |

WaterFest is an activity of The Water Quality Forum which was established in 1990 and is a cooperative network of agencies, nonprofit organizations and citizens working to improve the health of the waterways in East Tennessee in accordance with the goals of the Clean Water Act. |
